Fix Auto Buckingham has become the first repairer within the Fix Auto UK network to achieve ARIES Maturity Level 5 Environmental Accreditation, marking a significant milestone in the group’s sustainability journey.
The Northamptonshire-based repairer is also only the second independent vehicle repairer in the UK to achieve the highest level of accreditation under the ARIES framework for the 2025 reporting period.
ARIES is the automotive industry’s environmental standard, designed to help repairers improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, strengthen waste management and embed sustainable business practices across their operations.
To achieve the accreditation, Fix Auto Buckingham partnered with procurement specialists Purchase Direct, undertaking a comprehensive assessment that included calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions and developing a detailed carbon reduction management plan.
The latest recognition follows the business receiving Fix Auto UK’s Environmental Excellence Award at the group’s National Conference just five weeks earlier.
Richard Taylor, owner of Fix Auto Buckingham, said: “Environmental responsibility is a key priority for our business, and ARIES has provided us with a recognised framework that’s specifically designed for the automotive repair industry.
“Prior to ARIES coming into force, we already held PAS2060 certification, so the framework for our environmental credentials was already firmly in place. Achieving Maturity Level 5 not only further cements those credentials but also takes them to a whole new level.
“Being the first Fix Auto UK repairer to achieve this is yet another proud milestone for the business and reflects the commitment of our entire team to reducing our carbon footprint, improving resource efficiency and embedding sustainable practices throughout our operation. While we’re proud of this achievement, we’re equally focused on continuing our environmental journey.”
Mark Hutchins, Operations Director at Fix Auto UK, described the accreditation as a significant achievement that sets a benchmark for the wider network.
He said: “Achieving ARIES Maturity Level 5 is no mean feat and demonstrates a genuine commitment to environmental excellence rather than simply meeting compliance requirements. To become the first Fix Auto UK repairer to attain this level clearly illustrates how sustainability and operational excellence go hand in hand.”
