The average cost of repairing a battery electric vehicle (BEV) reached £3,479 over the past 12 months, according to the latest data from Gecko Risk.
Gecko’s August 2026 Battery Electric Vehicle Insights also puts the average repair cost for a petrol hybrid at £3,095 over the same period, £384 lower than the BEV figure.
The data provides further insight into the repair costs associated with the growing number of electric vehicles on UK roads. Gecko recorded an average labour cost of £1,122 for BEV repairs during the past 12 months, while average parts costs stood at £1,431.
The figures come as the UK BEV parc continues to expand. Gecko reported 2,269,201 BEVs on UK roads at the end of July, with 47,100 new BEVs added during the month.
This compares with 45,484 new petrol hybrids added to UK roads in July.
Gecko said its data enables industry stakeholders to analyse BEVs at vehicle make and model level using monthly information. Its six data dashboards cover repair costs, repair times, UK charging data, vehicles on the road, labour hours and accident frequency and severity.
