BASF Coatings UK recently welcomed the engineering team from 1st Central Insurance to its latest Technical Paint Awareness Workshop, designed to explore evolving repair technologies and sustainable refinishing processes within the accident repair sector.
Led by Rob Linehan, Automotive Refinish Trainer at BASF Coatings UK, the session combined classroom learning with live demonstrations covering digital colour identification, paint processes, blending techniques and refinishing methods designed to support modern vehicle technologies including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), radar systems and electric vehicles.
A key theme throughout the workshop focused on how low-energy repair methods and sustainable products can support bodyshops, managed repair networks and insurers in reducing overall repair impact while maintaining repair quality and efficiency.
Discussions also explored how advanced repair processes can help reduce energy consumption and material usage while aligning with wider sustainability objectives across the insurance and repair sectors.
The workshop formed part of BASF Coatings UK’s ongoing programme of technical engagement sessions aimed at supporting collaboration between repairers, insurers and technical engineering teams as vehicle technology continues to evolve.
Further Technical Paint Awareness Workshops are expected to take place throughout the year for repair network, insurance and sustainability professionals.
BASF will be running further sessions throughout the year. If you’re part of a repair network or insurance company and would like your technical engineering or sustainability team to attend, contact: jason.lea@basf.com
