Ben launches ‘Miles that matter’ to rally automotive community this April

ILC ARTICLE

Automotive charity Ben has launched a new virtual fundraising challenge, Miles that matter, calling on individuals and businesses across the sector to get active this April in support of colleagues who are struggling or in crisis.

Taking place between 20th – 24 April – or at any point during the month – the flexible running and walking challenge encourages participants to set their own distance goal and complete it in a way that works for them. Whether it’s a daily 5k, a weekend endurance effort, or a collective team target, every mile completed will help fund Ben’s life-changing and life-saving support services.

With ongoing cost-of-living pressures continuing to affect the health and wellbeing of automotive workers, demand for Ben’s services remains high. Individuals across the industry are facing increasingly complex challenges, including financial hardship, mental health concerns, physical illness and relationship difficulties. Funds raised through Miles that matter will help ensure Ben can continue providing practical, tailored support to automotive people and their families across the UK.

Participants can sign up individually or as part of a team, making the initiative an opportunity for dealerships, repairers, suppliers and partners to boost morale while supporting a shared cause.

Matt Wigginton, Director of Growth & Development at Ben, said: “Every mile really does matter for those in our industry who are struggling or in crisis. By taking part in this exciting new challenge, our automotive community can improve their own health and wellbeing and make a life-changing difference to colleagues facing tough times. We’re encouraging businesses and individuals across the sector to lace up this April and join us.”

Participants will receive fundraising resources and support from Ben to help maximise their impact. For those unable to take part in April, Ben also offers a range of other challenge events throughout the year, including the Thames Bridges Trek, Manchester Half Marathon, Kiltwalk, Great South Run and Run Fest.
