BYD introduces long-term support for EV drivers

ILC ARTICLE

BYD UK has unveiled a new initiative designed to support the adoption of electric vehicles and deliver long-term ownership benefits. The announcement follows ongoing uncertainty around eligibility for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG).

While BYD has formally applied to join the ECG scheme, eligibility is yet to be confirmed. In response, and to demonstrate continued investment in its UK customer base, BYD has introduced two key measures:

  • An enhanced power battery warranty of eight years or 155,342 miles (200,000km), with 70% state of health (SOH), now applies across its entire UK line-up of electric and DM-i models – including vehicles already on the road.
  • A five-year free servicing package is now available on selected new and Approved Used BYD vehicles, offering added peace of mind for both new and returning customers.

The complimentary servicing offer applies to the DOLPHIN SURF, DOLPHIN, ATTO 3, and Approved Used BYD vehicles purchased through the official BYD UK retail network.

By including Approved Used vehicles in the offer, BYD aims to make electric mobility more accessible while supporting the used EV market – a key component in sustaining vehicle value and customer confidence over time.

Steve Beattie, Sales and Marketing Director at BYD UK, said: “We understand that customers are looking for more than just savings upfront – they want lasting value and assurance. While we may not currently be part of the Electric Car Grant, we didn’t want to wait to show our commitment. This five-year servicing offer is our way of giving back to drivers who choose BYD and supporting them well beyond the showroom. That includes the Approved Used market – which plays a vital role in accelerating EV adoption and strengthening the value of our vehicles over time.”

The five-year servicing package includes scheduled maintenance and labour, in line with standard service intervals of two years or 12,420 miles (20,000km). It covers oil, fluids, parts and labour costs, and is valid on qualifying models purchased until the end of 2025.
