Southampton-based Silverlake Automotive Recycling has been named a winner at the prestigious Big Sustainability Awards, held on 9 October at the Hilton Southampton Utilita Bowl.
Recognised for its outstanding contribution to environmental progress in the automotive sector, Silverlake’s circular economy model impressed judges with its real-world impact and innovation.
Run by the Southern Sustainability Partnership, the awards celebrate businesses leading the way in sustainable practices across the South of England. Silverlake stood out for its online parts portal and vehicle parts reclamation model, which supplies quality-graded, warranty-assured reclaimed parts to bodyshops and repairers across the region.
Between January 2024 and May 2025, Silverlake’s efforts diverted over 18,000 parts from landfill, saving nearly 95,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions – the same as taking more than 73,000 cars off UK roads. The company’s work not only helps the environment, but also reduces vehicle repair costs and extends the life of vehicles for both businesses and motorists.
“We are truly honoured to receive this recognition,” said Allen Prebble, Managing Director of Silverlake. “It reflects not just our commitment to sustainability, but the passion and dedication of our entire team who work tirelessly to deliver our transformative circular economy model.”
Alan also thanked the company’s bodyshop customers: “Your ongoing demand for reclaimed parts drives this progress and proves that sustainability and commercial success go hand in hand. Together, we’re showing that responsible vehicle repair and maintenance can reduce waste, cut emissions, lower costs, and make driving safer for everyone in Hampshire and beyond.”
