The Vella Group has announced the acquisition of GB Flint Coachworks, marking its 20th bodyshop location across England and Wales and strengthening its footprint in the Midlands.
Located between Derby and Nottingham, GB Flint Coachworks is a long-established, family-run repairer with a history dating back to 1962. Founded by Brian Flint, the business is now led by his sons, Carl and St John Flint, alongside daughter-in-law Tanya. Over the decades, the company has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality vehicle repairs and customer service across personal, fleet and insurance work.
The business holds multiple manufacturer approvals, including BMW / MINI, Volvo, Volkswagen Group, Toyota / Lexus and Stellantis. Its capabilities span modern repair techniques as well as specialist and classic vehicle restoration, supporting a broad customer base across the region.
The acquisition reflects a shared focus on people, customers and consistent repair standards. The Vella Group has indicated that the integration will prioritise continuity, with the existing GB Flint Coachworks team remaining in place. Carl and St John Flint will continue to work within the business, supporting a smooth transition and maintaining established customer relationships.
Carl said, “Tanya, St John and I are delighted to have joined the Vella Group. This is a great opportunity for our team to become part of a larger organisation that shares our family values of integrity, quality, and commitment to our customers. It will safeguard our talented team as we work together to build for future success.”
Marc Holding, Chief Executive Officer of the Vella Group, added: “We’re delighted to welcome GB Flint Coachworks to the Vella Group. This is a business with real character, built on strong relationships, high standards and a genuine commitment to customers. Just as importantly, there’s a great team and culture at the heart of it, which aligns perfectly with how we operate.”
The addition of GB Flint Coachworks enhances the Vella Group’s regional network, complementing its existing Midlands sites. It also forms part of the Group’s longer-term growth strategy, aimed at expanding service capacity while maintaining consistent standards across its repair network.
