Activate Group unveils repair-as-a-service

Accepting that insurers and MGAs are facing challenges around vehicle repair capacity and lag times, Activate Group has launched an innovative new repair solution that meets changing capacity demands while at the same time reducing backlogs and delivering better outcomes.

Repair-as-a-service is a bespoke repair model that enables insurers and MGAs to tap into extra repair capacity as and when they need it.

Operating in place of or alongside their existing repair network, it is a safety net in the event of volume surges or any other unexpected event that pushes demand above capacity.

It can be set around location, vehicle type or vehicle model, meaning it only delivers repair capacity where it is most needed.

As part of repair-as-a-service, Activate Group also has the technological capabilities to provide a comprehensive repair management solution, although insurers with in-house expertise are able to select as much or as little of this as they require.

Evolving

Speaking at ILC’s MGA Claims Conference 2023, Pete Thompson, Director of Product, Activate Group, explained, “The claims journey is evolving but insurers and MGAs are at different stages of what they can offer, either technically or operationally. Repair-as-a-service takes that into account and provides a solution that they can use in the same way they use claims-as-a-service.

“It is an overflow solution that they can turn on and off, offering both vertical flex in terms of the level of repair management services they need, and volume flex.”

Flexibility

Meanwhile, repair-as-a-service comes with a no-volume commitment, offering insurers complete flexibility from month to month. Activate Group is able to offer this by leveraging its own capacity as well as the capacity of its network partners.

Pete said, “The market needs a more flexible solution and we at Active Group think repair-as-a-service is something different. You may not need it now, but you may need it at some point and we want to provide that option.”

ILC’s MGA Claims Conference was held in association with the MGAA and supported by Headline Sponsor Claims Consortium Group (CCG); Gold Sponsors: Activate Group, Carpenters Group, EDAM Group, Enterprise, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Pulse, Value Checkers, and Wiser Academy.
