AA Assist unveils digital solution for uncertain drivers 

New research has revealed that motorists are unsure who to contact in the event of a collision that they can drive away from. 

This comes after the AA reported a 135% increase in calls for help between the first weekend of December and the second, when temperatures plummeted and driving conditions were hazardous. 

Verisk explores OIC impacts 

The need for industry-proven, end-to-end solutions that ensure full connectivity with the Official Injury Claims (OIC) portal ‘out of the box’ has been highlighted by Verisk. 

In an article exploring the impacts since the introduction of the portal, Verisk said, “It has become increasingly clear that piecemeal systems or processes to deal with claims submitted through the OIC portal are no longer a suitable substitute for true application-to-application (A2A) connectivity and the follow-on benefits it brings.” 

Copart welcomes green news 

Copart has welcomed a new report that has revealed the extent the UK repair industry is adopting green parts.  

The report found that 79% of bodyshops who responded to the survey said they had used reclaimed parts for environmental, economic and supply chain reasons. 

Aviva won’t leave EV drivers stranded 

Aviva has enhanced support for EV drivers by announcing that RAC recovery experts will attend stranded motorists and either recharge their vehicles or tow them home or to the nearest charge point. 

This comes after its own research revealed that 43% of drivers say running out of power is concern while 42% worry about the availability of charging points on long journeys. 

Zego enhances BBI solution 

Zego has added new functionality to its Fleet Portal to support behavioural-based insurance. 

By giving fleet managers full visibility of driving habits, claims reporting times and loss ratios, it believes Fleet Portal can now deliver savings of up to 15% at renewal.

ManyPets and Wakam agree UK partnership

ManyPets UK, pet insurer and wholesale broker, has announced a partnership with European digital insurer Wakam as a new risk carrier in the UK market.

Wakam, a European B2B2C insurance company present in 32 countries, will be the insurer of all ManyPets insurance contracts in the UK from January 2023.

Extreme weather could bring financial storms 

New analysis by PwC UK has revealed that recent extreme weather events such as Storms Desmond, Eva or Frank would cost the insurance industry more than £1,6bn in today’s terms. 

Its findings come after the British Red Cross revealed that one in seven UK households do not hold building or content insurance. 

IFB targets tech in new anti-fraud strategy 

The Insurance Fraud Bureau has unveiled a new counter fraud strategy that will run from 2023 to 2025. 

Among its ambitions, Forward Together intends to support the development of new innovations to help the industry combat more advanced fraud tactics. 

Carpenters Group collects prestigious award

Carpenters Group collected the CSR Award at the YM Liverpool Property & Business Awards. It was nominated by one of the organisations it supports.

Verisk announces new software integration 

Verisk has announced a new integration between its forms management platform Mozart Form Composer and FilingRamp software. 

The integration provides users with an end-to-end forms solution enabling them to analyse, develop and submit updated forms to regulators in a single workflow instead through a multi-step process. 

2023 trends revealed 

Consumer Intelligence’s latest webinar considered the trends likely to impact the insurance sector next year. 

The panel, which included CEO Ian Hughes and Head of Consumer Strategy Catherine Carey, agreed that next year premium prices would go up, particularly in motor, shopping and switching would increase among policyholders, investment in automation and digital journeys would continue, new entrants would disrupt the market, while the new Consumer Duty could create new levels of trust.  

Rainbow Trust expands in the north 

Rainbow Trust has opened a new site in Liverpool which will deliver support across the North West and North Wales. Its support will be crucial in a region that has a high rate of childhood life-limiting conditions – around 75 per 10,000. 


Saga Insurance has named Stuart Ballantyne as new interim Claims Director. 

Allianz Commercial has promoted Kuldip Kang to the position of Claims Proposition Manager.  

James Dalton has started his new role as Chief Services Officer at the Motor Insurers’ Bureau. He joins after 15 years at the ABI.  

Nick Williams has been appointed Deputy CEO at AX.
