AI changing cyber landscape

Research from McKinsey has found that 63% of respondents describe AI implementation as a high priority, but 91% say they are not prepared to do so responsibly.

Meanwhile, a new report from Lloyds, Generative AI: Transforming the cyber landscape, identifies, warns that AI will increase both the severity and frequency of cyber attacks.

WTW forecasts consistent construction growth

WTW’s latest Construction Rate Tracker predicts that large-scale government spending and private investment will kickstart a period of steady growth in the sector. It estimates that construction output will grow at 5.2% from 2024 to 2027.

Property fraud up 88%

Data from Zurich UK has revealed that fraudulent property claims have risen 88% in the last two years, with the average value of the claim at £19,058.

It says it uncovered £78.5m in fraudulent property claims in the last year alone.

LV= announces first sole site building contractor

LV= has launched its first Sole Site Building Contractor, Redfern Group. The group has been part of the LV= network for four years and handles 650 customer claims a year.  

Safety standards still unsatisfactory

The Industry Safety Steering Group (ISSG) has published a new report warning the construction industry that more needs to be done to improve building safety.

Published on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the report urges the industry to ‘ensure that all buildings are safe for those who live and work in them.’

QuestGates kicks off The Feed charity drive

QuestGates is partnering with Norwich City FC Women’s Team to support The Feed, a charity which aims to ensure everyone in the city is able to eat well.


Key speakers revealed for Future Tech conference

Three key persons of influence from the insurance sector are the first speaker names revealed for ARC360’s ‘future technology’ themed conference, taking place on 27 June at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry.

Green options under-promoted

A Solera survey of over 8,000 drivers across Europe has revealed the industry isn’t matching customers’ appetite for green vehicle repair options. 

Only 23% of respondents were told about sustainable vehicle repair options and only 32% were offered used parts. This is despite 53% saying they are genuinely concerned about the environmental impact of vehicle repairs and maintenance.

Specialist motor MGA DCL has unveiled its new and improved Haul In One quote engine. Enabling all client-specific policy documents to be downloaded directly from the system, the solution also supports registration searches and multiple vehicle options.

FCA to review ‘vulnerable customer’ treatment

The FCA has announced it will review how firms are treating vulnerable customers, focusing on understanding consumer needs, skills within organisations to deliver good outcomes, and customer service.

Findings of the review will be published later this year.

Wiser Academy tackles claims skills gap

Wiser Academy has created the Insurance Claims Academy to encourage new talent to the sector and equip them with the skills to succeed in claims.

Divided into three pathways – Essential Knowledge Development, Customer Success Skill Development, and Behavioural Proficiency Development – the blended-learning programme is 15 months for apprentices and 11 months for non apprentices.

Zurich announces strong results

Zurich has reported business operating profits of £5.8bn in its latest annual report, representing an increase of 23% on the previous year.

Property and Casual was up seven per cent to £3.1bn, with property accounting for 38% of that and motor making up 20%.

Volatile conditions set to continue

Marsh’s latest 2024 Political Risk Report is predicting continued volatility this year as a result of economic uncertainty and political insecurity.

It says this will broaden the divergence between sectors and regions, but adds that opportunities exist for those organisations able to manage risks effectively.

Children’s charity turns one

The Kentown Children’s Palliative Care Programme, which is supported by Rainbow Trust, has celebrated its one-year milestone.

Launched to support children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, the initiative has helped 128 families in the North West to date.
