SYNETIQ launches carbon calculation project

IAA company SYNETIQ is developing its sustainability strategy by calculating the carbon footprint of its auction vehicles.

Conducted in collaboration with sustainability consultants Oakdene Hollins as part of its sustainability strategy, Our Road to Tomorrow, the study was conducted to deliver insights into the company’s emissions and to identify areas for improvement.

Results highlighted that transportation of auction vehicles was the primary contributor of emissions, followed by vehicle processing and forklift movements.

SYNETIQ is now collaborating with Masters students from Sheffield Hallam University to conduct a study on its HGV fleet. This study will explore innovative solutions and trial new software aimed at optimising route planning to minimise stem mileage in collection and parts delivery vehicles.

Tom Rumboll, UK Managing Director for IAA and CEO of SYNETIQ said, “We are committed to driving positive change in our industry and minimising our environmental impact. By quantifying the carbon footprint of auction vehicles and taking proactive steps to reduce emissions, we are setting a new standard for sustainability in the automotive sector.”
